Spring cleaning the weeds!

I lived in Kansas for a number of years and have long appreciated the beauty of the prairie. One of the coolest things about prairie life is the spring burning season. Dating back to the original caretakers of the land, the Native Americans burned the prairies for the same reasons today’s ranchers do. It prevents the growth and build up of weeds forming in last-year’s dead vegetation while also improving the habitat for prairie animals. In a nutshell, it’s nature’s “spring cleaning”.

Our spring cleaning is much the same. It gives us the opportunity to clear out the unwanted items that have “grown” around us over the winter. Like weeds that are choking out the new growth of vital grasses and beautiful flowers, our homes can become bogged down with too much stuff. The weeds of life, can choke out the beauty and simplicity that bring a peaceful environment.

Now, I’m not recommending you set fire to your excess stuff, but let’s at least take an honest look around and what is weighing your home down. One way to do that is to take a picture of your rooms. Often we become blind to our surroundings, but when we we see it through the lens of a camera, it almost magically gives us a more objective point of view. Try it and tell me what you think.

As always, I love hearing from you. I love being on this journey with you and encouraging your efforts to clear your environment so you can clear your mind and move forward! You can do this!
